Raydium exploiter moves $2.7M to crypto mixer Tornado Cash

The hackers sent 1,774.5 Ether to the sanctioned cryptocurrency mixer weeks after the DeFi protocol exploit.

In an alarm, blockchain security company CertiK reported that Raydium protocol network attacks sent 1774.5 Ether (ETH) to the mixer. At the time of writing, the amount was about $2.7 million.

On the premise that security teams on several exchanges have once again cracked down on hacker diligence, money has once again flowed into the banned digital currency mixer Tornado Cash.

The attack on the decentralized Finance (Defi) protocol under Solana occurred on December 16th. According to real estate developers, hackers controlled the accounts of exchange owners and sucked up money from liquid service providers, including digital currencies such as dollar coins (US Coin), packaged Solana (WSOL) and Raydium.

After a preliminary investigation, the Defi protocol made it clear that the system vulnerability was mainly caused by the system vulnerability in the blockchain intelligence contract of the decentralized exchange. This allows managers to obtain a pool of liquidity as an expense.

As a result of this damage, the Raydium team also proposed a scheme to compensate hacker victims, which involves the use of scattered autonomous organization vaults to purchase lost dynamic passwords to compensate those who have been harmed.

In a statement released on Jan. 9, blockchain technology analyst Chainanalysis stressed that although the sandstorm cash ban has some harm to the blender, no organization can easily pull the power plug compared with centralized service items. Although its platform can be shut down, its smart contract can operate permanently, highlighting that everyone can use it normally at any time.

Although the hacker once again took the initiative to relocate funds, he did not always win. Recently, centralized password exchanges Binance and Huobi can check and freeze the funds stored by Harmony One hackers. BinanceCEO Zhao Changpeng reported that his security team worked with Firebee to recover 121 BTC (BTC) from hackers, which was worth $2.5 million at the time.
