OpenSea has added support for NFTs on its seventh blockchain Avalanche! According to the announcement released by OpenSea, the world's largest NFT market, on Tuesday, October 11, the company recently increased its support for its seventh blockchain network, Avalanche. OpenSea announced the official launch of Avalanche on Twitter, which means that it has joined companies such as Ethereum, Solana, Polygon, Arbitrum, Klaytn and Optimism.
This is a major move for Avalanche, because NFT is still booming as before, especially on OpenSea. In fact, in September 2022 alone, the online market Ethereum NFT trading volume will reach about 350 million dollars.
OpenSea also announced that these are some of the largest and most popular collections in the avalanche ecosystem, including Chikan, TapTapKaboom, The Stoics, Castle Crush and OpenBlox.

Will OpenSea support lead to growth in Avalanche NFT?
Avalanche itself is a large and popular open source network, featuring a simple cryptocurrency called AVAX. The project is actually composed of three independent blockchains, one of which is called C-chain. This is a blockchain, which is optimized to be compatible with Ethereum's smart contract and used by irreplaceable tokens. However, this is not the only one of the three chains that can support NFT -- they can also exist on Avalanche's X chain.
OpenSea announced its support for Avalanche NFTs, which is good news for collectors in the Avalanche network. However, it remains to be seen whether the listing of the above collections will really promote the avalanche NFT economy.
Some members of the encryption industry believe Avalanche is a candidate for the title of "Ethereum Killer", but as far as NFT is concerned, Avalanche has little influence so far. In September 2022, the total transaction volume of NFT of the project is only about 2.4 million dollars, with a total transaction volume of about 25000 and fewer than 4500 buyers.
On the other hand, Solana, another candidate for the Ethereum Killer title, traded $130 million in NFT last month. Its transaction count is close to 3 million, and the number of buyers is approximately 143000. Although the starting time of these two projects is very close, Solana obviously won in all aspects of NFT transaction. Last month, it handled 193% more NFT related funds and 187% more buyers than Avalanche.
Avalanche NFT creators are just starting
The avalanche NFT economy is still small, but it is showing signs of growth. The project has two NFT series, with similar numbers in popularity - Smol Joes and Smol Lands. Other popular collections on the top ten list include Smol Apas and Smol Creeps, as well as Smol Turds, which is a collection of "deliberately disgusting and ugly art" trends with the theme of stool based on Taifang.
At the same time, Dominic Caponaro, head of business development of Avalanche, believes that the NFT market of this project is rising, and its NFT creators are just starting. With the support of OpenSea, more NFTs are expected to be listed in NFT's main markets soon.
