The seized property included a Bored Ape Yacht Club and Doodles NFT, 85.6 Ether and a flashy Audemars Piguet watch which ultimately helped ZachXBT identify the alleged scammer.
The Foreign Federal Bureau of investigation (FBI) has cracked several unchangeable dynamic passwords (NFT) and 86.50 etheric workshops (ETH) worth more than $100000 from a reported phishing fraudster.
The Chase Senecal- suspected of committing a crime, known as Horror (HZ) Online-, was first revealed by a long study published by the separate blockchain technology probe ZachXBT in September.
In an official announcement released by the Federal Bureau of investigation on February 3rd, it concluded that Seneca's property-including a $41000 Audemars Piguet watch (AP) Royal Oak Watch-was taken away for violating federal law.
The notice of the FBI's work did not describe in detail more information about the hardship, but only stressed that all the property was seized on October 24. The specific NFT includes the uninteresting ape golf driving range # 9658 and Doodle#3114, which were worth $95495 and $9361 respectively at the time of detection.
86.5ETH was worth $116433 when it was detained, but it is now worth $144000 at the time of writing.
At this stage, it is not clear what is the full scope of the litigation mentioned by Senecal. However, according to the inspection announcement of the Federal Bureau of investigation, the seizure by the federal government is a special inspection tool that enables government departments to "remove the illegal and criminal property involved without compensating their own property use rights."
"it may occur in criminal proceedings, such as a prosecution against the object, or after a person is convicted in a criminal trial," the FBI said. "
Although the FBI has not officially disclosed the case to the ZachXBT, the undercover detective stressed in a tweet on Feb. 3 that the property seizure was indeed the conclusion of his investigation.
"I look forward to seeing more phishing fraudsters suffer similar fortunes in the near future," ZachXBT wrote. "they hurt so many people in these ways."
With the capture of a lonely gorilla NFT, people in the community joked that FBI would change its avatar picture to gorilla # 9658.
Notably, the gaudy Reuters watch was one of the key signs that allowed ZachXBT to uncover Senecal's identity and thematic activities on the chain during the investigation period.
In a medium-to-medium article published on September 1st. ZachXBT explained that when he saw HZ touting the new watch on social platforms, he asked "a lot of mutual friends who sell watches" and managed to reach the person who sold the special AP watch to Senecal.
Unfortunately for Senecal, I heard that this large sum of money was collected on the blockchain using dollar coins (USDC).
ZachXBT wrote: "the $475000 location where HZ is used to pay watch suppliers is immediately funded by multiple detailed addresses, which are used to deceive people with hacked Twitter accounts such as @ deekayMotion, @ Zeneca_33, @ ezu_xyz and @ JRNYClub."
This is not the first time that ZachXBT's exploration has played a leading role in promoting government departments at the government level. In October, France's national Internet unit cited ZachXBT's work to help it arrest and sue a group of fraudsters suspected of stealing $2.5 million worth of NFT under phishing fraud.
