Developers are attempting to attack the forked testnet with malicious nodes to see if they can find vulnerabilities.
According to the article published by Marius Van Der Wijden, a developer of GoEthereum, on January 23, along with the drawing up time for upgrading and updating of Shanghai Ethereum, the developer has already created an interface test called "Figure Bifurcation". A new test network may be established to detect the standards required for the withdrawal of ETH pledge loans. It has been disabled at this stage, but it is planned to be launched in the version update.
The name of the test network is "Cancel the main network online - Shadow - Working - 1". According to Alchemy, the Web3 node service provider, the "black shadow bifurcation" is the bifurcation of the main network, which is only for testing purposes.
Van Der Wijden indicated that he and another developer named "Potuz" would establish intentional nodes, which would push bad blocks and information for other nodes in the test network, and try to persuade them to join a false version of the Internet. At this stage, the Internet is running smoothly, but Van Der Wijden said that he wanted to "see if Potuz and I can get rid of it." Obviously, it is to see whether the update can prevent hacker attacks, or whether further changes should be made before it is implemented online.

This test network will be launched after the developers said that they are more and more eager to expect the withdrawal of Ethereum to become a reality. On January 6, they held a meeting in which they agreed to remove the proposed EVM target file format (EOF) from the urban renewal of Shanghai. EOF is committed to making Ethereum easier to update in the near future. However, due to its diversity, the developer decided to remove it from the urban area of Shanghai, because he was afraid that it would delay the implementation of the withdrawal.
According to a report by Nansen in December, more than 14.5 million ETH (with a value of more than 23 billion US dollars at the time of writing this document) has been deposited into the Ethereum pledge contract, which cannot be revoked at this stage. In November, the developers of Ethereum were publicly criticized for allegedly moving the door frame that allowed cash withdrawal.
The Shanghai municipal renewal plan at this stage will be implemented under certain conditions in March.
